Thing 5-Task Part 2

In her blog “Librarian by Day”,  Bobbi Newman reveals her dismay and disapproval of the the Penguin Publishing’s current E-book and public library situation. In her June 21, 2012 post  “Penguin’s Pitiful Re-Engagement With Libraries” (, Newman berates Penguin’s new policy of allowing a few libraries one year access to their older books. She compares Penguin to an old on-again, off-again boyfriend who returns at his leisure. Newman feels that Penguin is limiting access to their newer books for E-Book readers.She is not opposed to Penguin having a working relationship with libraries, but it should be terms and conditions that are favorable for librarians and the reading public. Her article gave more food for thought about E-Books,libraries and meeting the news of readers in the 21st century.
