In her blog “Librarian by Day”,http://librarianbyday.net/ Bobbi Newman reveals her dismay and disapproval of the the Penguin Publishing’s current E-book and public library situation. In her June 21, 2012 post “Penguin’s Pitiful Re-Engagement With Libraries” (http://librarianbyday.net/2012/06/21/penguins-pitiful-re-engagement-with-libraries), Newman berates Penguin’s new policy of allowing a few libraries one year access to their older books. She compares Penguin to an old on-again, off-again boyfriend who returns at his leisure. Newman feels that Penguin is limiting access to their newer books for E-Book readers. She is not opposed to Penguin having a working relationship with libraries, but it should be terms and conditions that are favorable for librarians and the reading public. Her article gave more food for thought about E-Books,libraries and meeting the news of readers in the 21st century.
